Seton Hall University's  College of Communication and the Arts enables innovative, genuine and professional interaction in academic, social, artistic and technological settings. Based on statistics reported from the class of 2019, our graduates enjoy a 100% graduate school acceptance rate, and 97% have meaningful employment within six-months of graduation.


  • Art, Design and Interactive Multimedia

    Students with a major in Art, Design and Interactive Multimedia focus their studies in one of three tracks, including: Fine and Digital Art; Graphic Design and Advertising; or Interactive Design and Multimedia. Rooted in theory and fostered by technology, students in the program are prepared to be conceptual, visual thinkers.

    Students learn to execute technical, aesthetic, and conceptual decisions based on an understanding of art design principles; communicate effectively as professional artists/designers; solve multifaceted design programs; and efficiently use a variety of advanced technology tools used in the design field.   • Art History

    Due to the University's proximity to the world class museums of New York City, art history majors have the unique opportunity to study major masterpieces first-hand. The Art History curriculum includes courses in Western and American Art, as well as a choice of period courses, from Classical to 20th-century Art. Topical courses, such as "Leonardo and Michelangelo," or "Van Gogh and his Contemporaries" and thematic courses, such as "Women and Art," are also offered. Learn more »

  • Communication

    Good communication is an essential requirement for healthy relationships, civic leadership, and career success. Across all industries, employers consistently rank communication skills at the top of the most important qualities of incoming professionals. When students major in Communication at Seton Hall University, they study, practice and master those very qualities, including speaking and writing persuasively, researching effectively, interviewing successfully, and working productively in interpersonal, intercultural and team environments.   • Journalism

    The Journalism program teaches students to write and communicate in ways that engage a mass audience. Faculty include award winning-scholars and authors who challenge students to become critical thinkers. Journalism students graduate with a mastery of foundational skills, a strong sense of ethics and fairness, and the ability to understand and analyze today's journalism landscape.   • Public Relations

    The Public Relations program is designed to present professional principles and practices in PR for corporate, nonprofit and governmental organizations in an international framework. One of only a few undergraduate public relations program nationwide to be certified by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), our students learn to conduct global public relations campaigns, and graduate with a strong ability to understand, create and execute public relations campaigns for clients. Our prime location within the Tri-State area helps students obtain hands-on experience through internships - often with globally known companies - that frequently lead to jobs within the first year after graduation.   • Theatre

    The study of the human condition through theatre enhances students' educational experience. The Theatre program produces well-rounded graduates who bring creativity to any career. Students gain immediate hands-on experience through Seton Hall Theatre's main-stage productions and have the opportunity to perform on campus in the Theatre-in-the-Round as well as on the South Orange Performing Arts Center's proscenium stage.   • Visual and Sound Media (Broadcasting/TV/Film)

    Students with a major in Visual and Sound Media choose a concentration from five areas, including: Film (Digital Cinema) Production; Media Studies; Sound Production and Engineering; Sports Media; or Television Production.

    The program empowers students to examine the complex relationships between media, society, and culture to best express themselves as filmmakers, artists, critics, and citizens in their communities or on a global stage.  All students, as early as their first year, can get involved with multiple experiential learning opportunities, including Pirate TV, our student-run television station or WSOU 89.5 FM, our radio station that was recently recognized with a prestigious Marconi Award.
