Spotlight on Education Buccino Leader: Matthew Ashburn  

reach out group pic 1The College of Education and Human Services is proud to shine a spotlight on First-Year, Secondary Education and Buccino Leadership Institute Student Matthew Ashburn.

Matthew is a founding board member of Reach Out!, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and young adults struggling with mental illness. "One of the great aspects of this organization," Matthew shared, "is that everyone on the board is either in high school or college ensuring that Reach Out! maintains a pulse on the mental health needs of young students."

Working closely with schools and local businesses, the organization has been able to provide children and young adults with mental health resources, anxiety reducing workbooks, books, art supplies, and fidget toys to help them de-stress.

Matthew Ashburn x320Reach Out! has been in existence for six months and already has served/donated items to over 60 schools with 20 schools currently on their waitlist.
