Student broadcasters at WSOU 89.5FM can hear from various Seton Hall alumni through their alumni mentorship program.

This year started off with a speed networking event at the radio station during the fall semester which featured over 10 alumni and numerous current students. The event's purpose was to connect students with current professionals who got their start at WSOU.

The alumni mentoring program has continued into the spring semester with a speaker series and workshops. These events are structured to help the student broadcasters perfect their craft — during their time at WSOU and further in their professional career. Some of the professionals slated to speak include alumni Christina Stoffo and Tim Bonomo, both of whom are traffic reporters at Total Traffic and Weather; alumnus Matt Ambrose, assistant director of digital media and communications for Seton Hall Athletics; alumnus John Fanta, Fox’s College Hoops play-by-play broadcaster and reporter; alumnus Glenn Schuck, 1010 WINS news reporter; and alumnus Matt Loughin, the radio play-by-play voice of the New Jersey Devils.

"It’s important for students to get real advice and guidance from people that have been in the industry and have made it in the ‘real world,'" said John Makuch, WSOU’s news director. "Overall, this experience shows the strength of WSOU’s alumni network."
