Online Graduate Nursing Programs Ranked Top 15 in Nation

For the third year in a row, Seton Hall's College of Nursing online graduate nursing program is ranked the top in New Jersey and third among all Catholic universities in the country.
U.S. News and World Report has once again recognized Seton Hall University as having one of the top online graduate nursing programs in the nation, ranking 15th in 2022, up from 27 last year. Placing 15th out of 194 schools chosen for inclusion by U.S. News this year puts the Seton Hall program in the Top 8 percent nationally. For the past three years, Seton Hall's College of Nursing has had the top-ranked online graduate nursing programs in New Jersey and ranked third among all Catholic universities in the country.
In the 2022 edition of the Best Online Graduate Nursing Programs rankings, U.S. News notes that "programs that score the highest are those applying educational best practices specific for distance learners" and ranked schools using their specific formula, which prioritizes engagement between students and faculty as well as faculty credentials.
The College of Nursing itself is on an upward trajectory, with its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program having recently placed 76th among 694 ranked throughout the United States in the first-ever U.S. News ranking of undergraduate nursing programs. This puts Seton Hall in the Top 11 percent of all schools nationally.
U.S. News & World Report's 2022 Best Nursing Schools guide also highly ranked the College of Nursing's Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) and Doctor of Nursing (D.N.P.) programs, marking them as top programs in New Jersey.

"Despite the challenges of the last two years because of the pandemic, the College of Nursing has much to be proud of, including the U.S. News and World Report ranking of our undergraduate and graduate nursing programs," said Dean Marie Foley, Ph.D., R.N. "This accomplishment is due to the hard work of our faculty and administration. The College has shown that as a team, we are transforming nursing education."
In Fall 2021, the College began offering another online graduate program, the M.S.N. Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric/Mental Health. "This program addresses a profound need as there is a shortage of the psychiatric workforce as well an increased need for behavioral health services in the United States, now worsened by anxiety and fear created by COVID-19," said Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Kathleen Neville, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN. "Nurse practitioners fill multifaceted roles and use their expertise to provide a wide range of mental health services to diverse populations in all types of settings: schools, community settings, hospital, clinics, correctional facilities, as well as federal agencies."
In addition, the College revamped its Ph.D. in Nursing program this year, providing role preparation as nurse scientists in academia, practice or administration. It has a revised 42-credit curriculum and offers the choice of synchronous remote or in-person classes. "This new offering provides students with the choice of attending in person or remote, enabling busy nurses and out-of-state students the opportunity to enroll in our dynamic Ph.D. program," said Neville.
The College of Nursing offers the following master's and doctoral programs:

• Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) (online)
• M.S.N. - Adult Gerontology Primary/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (online)
• M.S.N. - Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (online)
• M.S.N. - Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (online)
• R.N. to M.S.N. Degree Bridge (online)
The College also recently expanded its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program by offering it on both the Interprofessional Health Sciences campus in Clifton/Nutley, N.J. as well as a satellite site in Lakewood, N.J. This 14-month program offers the opportunity for those with a non-nursing bachelor’s degree to take the NCLEX-R.N. licensing exam and become nurses.
