Infiltration of xylazine in illicit fentanyl

American Nurse featured the research of College of Nursing's Associate Dean Kathleen Neville, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, and Project Coordinator Julia Bonfim, M.P.A. Neville and Bonfim cover the concerning trend in the illicit drug market with the presence of xylazine, an animal tranquilizer, alongside fentanyl. This adulterant is increasingly being detected in drug overdose cases.
