Application Requirements
In general, our graduate application requirements include:

1.  A completed electronic/online application form, which should take approximately 10 minutes to complete by following these instructions:

a.  Attach a 1-page statement of purpose which will be considered as a writing sample.
b.  Attach your most up to date resume or CV.
c.  Enter the contact information for 2 recommenders/references - our system will automatically contact your recommenders with instructions on how to enter the letters.
d.  Submit the completed online application and $75 processing fee (request for waivers will be considered on an individual basis – refer to the checklist document above).

2.  Official academic transcripts from all current or previous institutions where you study/studied - a Bachelor's degree is required prior to application.

a. Academic transcripts from institutions outside of the United States or Canada must undergo a course-by-course evaluation conducted by an independent credentials evaluation agency, that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

SpanTran is our recommended international transcript evaluation service. A custom application has been created exclusively for Seton Hall University allowing our applicants to request their evaluation at a discounted rate. You can access the application here: SpanTran Application - Seton Hall University. Failure to submit a required credential evaluation from a NACES member will result in your application for admission being incomplete and, thus, unable to be reviewed.

3.  Official test scores

a.    Applicants who speak English as a second language and did not study at an English-based institution must provide official scores attained on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Duolingo English Test.

b.    Our graduate application does not require GRE scores. However, M.A. applicants have the option to provide GRE/GMAT or LSAT scores in support of their application.

4.  Employment Verification
Where applicable, applicants may be asked to provide official employment verification statements, which must be issued by an authorized employer representative to [email protected].  Employer statements must include information on your a) employment start date/end date, b) most recent titled held and c) official contact information of the representative issuing the statement.  Executive M.S. applicants must demonstrate seven years of relevant professional work experience. A master's degree in a related subject area may be considered as a substitute for two years of experience.

5.    Applicants may be asked to provide additional information or participate in an interview.

Application Review and Dual Degree Applicants
The Graduate Admissions Committee at the School of Diplomacy takes all elements of your application into consideration through a holistic approach.  Once your application is complete, the Committee will review all of the admissions documents and make a decision within two weeks (in most cases). Applicants will be notified about the decision via e-mail and mail.

Applicants for our dual degree programs will be reviewed by each school/college at Seton Hall; admissions decisions are made independently of one another.  JD/MA candidates must complete two applications: (1) JD application and (2) the online form portion of the MA application – all other official files will be extracted from the Law School once the Law application is complete – JD/MA candidates only pay one application fee (contact one of the schools for a fee waiver).
