Badge for US News and World Report- Best Online Programs- Grad EducationSeton Hall University's Online M.A.E. / Ed.S. advanced degree programs in Education Leadership, Management and Policy (ELMP) is a nationally recognized, CAEP accredited, two-year graduate program geared toward working professionals interested in becoming educational administrators such as principals, department supervisors, and district administrators. 

Two one-day residencies are required (Orientation and Mid-Residency). This makes it easy for elementary, middle and high school teachers to join the program and earn a Master or Education Specialist degree in education leadership. Classes are taught by Seton Hall University faculty and experienced education practitioners who bring years of knowledge and expertise in educational administration.  

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

The Program

 The online M. A.E. or Ed. S. degree in ELMP consists of 13 courses and incorporates two on-campus weekend residency visits, which afford you the opportunity to meet face-to-face with professors and your peers in the program. Note: those who already hold an M.A. are eligible for the Ed. S. degree. Orientation provides an opportunity for students to visit the 160+ year old campus located in a New Jersey suburban setting outside of New York City. 

Utilizing state-of-the-art learning technologies in a highly interactive educational environment, our programs are built on current research, best practices within a comprehensive, rigorous curricula. All students graduate with the knowledge and skills to lead K-12 environments in a consistently changing global environment.

Admissions Requirements 

  • Online Application
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended, including an earned undergraduate degree for the M.A.E program or an earned master’s degree for the Ed.S. program
  • Current professional vitae/resume
  • Letter of intent outlining your rationale for applying
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation from academic and/or professional references familiar with your character, interests and academic ability. It is suggested that recommendations include the following: 
    • One (1) letter from an advisor, colleague, education administrator or supervisor
    • One (1) letter from a professor 
    • One (1) letter from a previous employer in the field 

Application Deadlines 

The program accepts applications throughout the year and operates on a rolling admissions basis. 

Admissions Criteria and Prerequisites

  • Work experience in education or in a related field 
  • Undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (or equivalent) 

Faculty

The faculty in the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media are expert researchers and practitioners in teacher and leader preparation as well as professional psychology and family therapy. Many are actively engaged with schools and community agencies, modeling best practices to their students in the university classroom and in the field. Collaboration within departments and across is encouraged with the recognition that supporting and improving the lives of children, families and communities is a complex process.
