“Seton Hall and everything it stands for – excellence, faith, a call to service, development of the mind, heart and spirit – have helped shape me into a leader I’m proud to be.”
Joan Bosisio '97
Right after graduating from Seton Hall with a degree in English and communications, Joan Bosisio '97 went straight to work building her career. She began at the same company where she now serves as vice president: Stern + Associates (Stern), a full-service public relations, marketing and digital communications agency specializing in thought leadership programming with offices in Cranford, N.J., and Boston, Mass.
Joan utilizes her extensive experience and understanding of public relations to help shape and drive agency strategy, generate new business, provide senior counsel to clients and encourage the professional growth of staff members. Her responsibilities include developing and leading outreach campaigns including Stern’s prospect engagement, media relations and speakers bureau activities. She builds Stern's reputation as a desirable employer by spearheading recruiting, onboarding, talent assessment and professional advancement. Joan has created training and development tools designed to increase employee’s knowledge adoption and effectiveness in contributing to the firm.
A former two-term president of the Public Relations Society of America's New Jersey chapter, she currently sits on the professional organization's board and serves as a liaison to the state’s six student chapters and as the director of digital communications.
Joan brings her expertise outside of the office and into the classroom as an adjunct professor of public relations here at Seton Hall. In addition to teaching, Joan serves students as professional adviser to the University's chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and by providing job search, interview and resume guidance through the Communications Honors Alumni Mentoring Program (CHAMPS). For her dedication, she has been awarded Seton Hall's PRSSA's 2010 ROPE Mentor Award and the 2013 Many Are One Alumni Impact Award.
Joan credits her alma mater with inspiring her to reach her goals: "Seton Hall and everything it stands for – excellence, faith, a call to service, development of the mind, heart and spirit – have helped shape me into a leader I'm proud to be."
